By far this is one of the most moving and inspirational quotes every penned in the history on mankind. It may be up for debate, however, the truth is that Marianne Williamson speaks what humanity feels. It is no wonder that the number one fear in the World is not death, but public speaking. To stand before people and proclaim knowledge that they do not have, subject yourself to criticism, and possible embarrassment is unbearable for the majority of the people in the World.
Likewise, many people do not step out of the shadows because they fear the truth. Those to take on Truth carry the responsibility that goes with Truth. Truth is not just speech, but it is action. It takes something to go against the grain, to standout from the crowd. Starting a business was the same experience for me, yet once I embraced that this is my Life and it is an opportunity to liberate myself and others, it became something to embrace, love, and cherish. The Truth is that who we each are and what we allow to be shown to the World sometimes conflict. And withholding who you are withholds something from the World. Withholding your vision, talent, personality, drive, innovative spirit, and helpfulness serves no one, not even you. Those around you remain in the same thought patterns and rituals until someone breaks the mold.
It might just be you that sets someone free. The Truth is:
Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
